Splash ‘n Boots

Take the kids to this matinee show, a fun hour of music that won the 2014 Canadian Children’s Group of the Year. The 2pm matinee is Saturday October 25th at the Max Cameron. Tickets are only $5 for kids under 10, $10. for Youth/Seniors and $15. for Adults. Get yours at Breakwater Books, The Academy of Music or at the door on Saturday.


Annual Salmon Foundation Dinner & Auction

Now is the time to get your tickets for this yearly gala. The event is held at Dwight Hall on Saturday October 25th starting at 5:30pm with a gourmet meal catered by Exec. Chef David Bowes. Auction items include trips, outdoor adventures and works of art. Proceeds from the evening go to local salmon conservation and restoration. Tickets are $50. per person. Available at Marine Traders and Powell River Outdoors.


Urban Homesteading Bootcamp

Learn how to raise small livestock, garden, cook with the harvest, and improve your infrastructure. This jam-packed weekend will help you take your homesteading to the next level. Sessions are all day Saturday, October 25th and Sunday, October 26th at Sycamore Commons, Townsite Anglican Church. Two-day Bootcamp $119. +gst. Tea & Tarot Cards

Saturday October 25th, at the Henderson House in Townsite, from 1pm to 3pm. Have tea while admiring the beautiful restoration of this historic home. Get a glimpse into the future with a $20. tarot card reading.


Jazz in the Afternoon

The Comox Valley  jazz group Ralph Barrat & The Sharp Seven will perform an afternoon of music at Rodmay’s Rainbow Room from 2pm to 5pm on Saturday October 25th. Tickets are $15. Get them in advance from the Rodmay Liquor Store or Rockit Music.


Salmon Field Trip

Lee George at the Sliammon Hatchery will lead a tour to watch the Chum salmon return. A great family event, dress for the weather. Saturday October 25th, from 10am to noon.


Hallowe’en Bike Ride

The annual Hallowe’en ride around Loon Lake is Sunday, October 26th at 3pm. A great family event, costume most definitely encouraged!


Future Chef’s Cafe

Speaking of delicious, a secret dining delight in town is the Culinary Arts program restaurant at Brooks Secondary. The students are serving an ever-changing menu with dinner on Wednesday evenings and lunch on Fridays. Reservations are a must. Call 604-483-7967.
