What’s Happening

Check out what’s happening in and around Powell River for the next couple weeks.
We update often so keep visiting!

Sandcastle Weekend

A great time to head to Texada Island over the next couple of weekends. Sandcastle Weekend returns on Saturday July 22nd and Sunday July 23rd with a parade, food and craft vendors, bingo, bed races, pancake breakfast, dogshow and of course, the main attraction: sand sculptures. Great fun for the entire family! Gilles Bay, Texada Island.

Sea Fair Parade

Speaking of parades, Sea Fair Parade is Saturday July 22nd, starting at 10am at Joyce and Barnett and winding the way to Marine and Duncan. There is no Fair this year, just the parade keeping the light burning!

Farmer’s Market

Summer harvest is here and the Outdoor Farmer’s Market is in full swing. Spend a couple hours with local farmers and vendors at 4365 McLeod Rd. Saturdays 10:30am to 12:30pm and Sundays 12:30pm to 2:30pm.

Our Stories

Happy Hummers

There is really nothing more delightful than watching a hummingbird, that little powerhouse with helicopter-flying abilities and fashion runway worthy wardrobe. In Powell River — and in fact all along the Sunshine Coast and Vancouver Island — we have 2... read more

February Ta-Da!

In Powell River, we don’t really get the February Bla’s. While the rest of the country is deep in winter, our gardens are beginning to come alive. Our fellow Canadians in other provinces are awaiting that first glimpse of the spring robin, but we see the bird... read more

Festivals

We have a large community of artists in our midst: painters, potters, sculptors, writers and musicians — all evident at our annual festivals. Plan your visit to take in one of our many fabulous festivals so you can indulge the artist in you.

Sporting Events

Our natural environment is the perfect backdrop for sporting activities. Aside from many charitable marathon runs that we host, there are a couple major events that may interest you.

Part of the allure of Powell River comes from our seclusion. But don’t worry, we are connected!
There are no roads that lead you here — ferries and planes are the means to get to us.
And both offer spectacular scenery along the way.

Wear it. Share it.
